Your board's perspective on cyber

Why should you care about what your boss's boss's boss thinks? And most importantly, what should you do about it? Jessica Figueras, Co-founder of CxB - Cyber Governance for Boards - explains.

Most cyber professionals don't have much, if any, contact with their board. But cyber resilience has shot up the business agenda everywhere, driven by increasing regulation, news headlines, and - for the unlucky - contact with cold hard reality. So whether or not you're interested in your boss's boss's boss, chances are they'll be increasingly more interested in you.

This session will cover:

  • What boards think about cyber security and the teams responsible for it, and what's likely to be coming your way
  • What good collaboration between the board, the business and infosec looks like (and some of the not-so-good alternatives)
  • How getting this right is good for your career as a cyber professional.

Jessica Figueras is a co-founder of CxB - Cyber Governance for Boards, a non-profit that supports boards to exercise more effective cyber governance. She was previously Vice Chair at the UK Cyber Security Council, the UK's self-regulatory body for cyber professionals, and CEO of a cyber security consulting firm serving government.
