2025-12-13 , Malware Village

Malware & Monsters is an innovative security training platform that combines collaborative storytelling with creature-collection mechanics to create engaging, practical incident response training. Our gamified incident response training transforms traditional cybersecurity skills development through team-based security training experiences.

Teams work together to identify, analyse, and respond to digital threats represented as Malmons (short for Malware Monsters) - creatures with distinct behaviours, capabilities, and weaknesses. This malware monsters cybersecurity game approach makes learning engaging and memorable.

At Malware Village, we explore the world of malware, it’s engineering, reversal, and everything in-between.
We will host various talks, panels, contests and workshops focused on malware analysis. Participants can experiment with and analyze malware under the guidance of professionals.

Workshops include:

Malware & Monsters—a D&D-inspired tabletop game where teams collect "Malmons" (malware monsters like Stuxnet and WannaCry) while building real incident response skills through collaborative problem-solving.

Beginning reverse engineering bugs for exploitation where you will lessons covering stack basics, stack based overflows, buffer overflows, data execution using ROP and DEP/ASLR bypasses.

Receive a full malware analysis toolkit by participating in our MARCI Contest and come up with an accurate malware analysis report for half the points, and present it in an unconventional way for the other. The most accurate but original report wins!

BOMBE will have you fighting pesky EDRs getting in the way of your disposition to pwn.
EMYAC focuses on the efficiency of YARA rules, and their application, may the most efficient AND effective rule win!
The full Malware Village currently features three contests:
MARC I (Malware Analysis Report Competition)BOMBE (Battle of Malware Bypass EDR)EMYAC (Efficient Malware YARA Analysis Competition)
In BSides London, we only have 4 hours, so we will host a subset of Malware Village.
